CrashPlan runs a backup all by itself once every 30 minutes (can be adjusted by the user or administrator) when installed CrashPlan automatically selects the users home folder, which is by default where your documents, photos and email are stored.
LOCAL ONSITE BACKUP
CrashPlan can backup files and folders on locally attached drives at the same time as the cloud backup is running.
USE CRASHPLAN EVERYWHERE
With CrashPlan you have one solution across all your operating systems means less time, fewer costs and resources needed to purchase, learn, support and maintain your the software. Simply storing data in house isn’t enough anymore; there’s the constant threat of security breaches, or inconsistency of reaching information and data when needed. CrashPlan runs on Apple OSX, Microsoft Windows Desktops, iPad, iPhone and Android Devices.
We use 448-bit Blowfish encryption to secure your files on your computer, even before they’re backed up; this ensures that only you can access your files. Compliant with European Union Data Protection Directive (EUDPD), which states cloud backup providers are required to ensure all backed up data is only stored in Europe. This way you know we’re trustworthy, safe, and secure to use.
VERSIONS AND DELETIONS
CrashPlan by default keeps all versions of your files, to allow you to go back in time to restore a file from various different versions. By default CrashPlan also never removes deleted files from the backup archive.
WEB ADMIN AND WEB RESTORE
Remotely manage CrashPlan installations by using our web admin console to check the status of the backup on each computer or push changes out to all your computers as a batch. Users can remotely manage their own backup settings and preform a web restore when using the web console.
REPORTING AND EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS
CrashPlan allows you to view the backup activity and statistics in real time. No waiting for reports to run, you get live data as and when it happens. Users and administrators can receive daily or weekly backup reports and alerts by email. We offer a lot of choice and a lot of flexibility.
Bandwidth controls can be set to limit the speed available to CrashPlan to prevent the system using all your allowance. WiFi and network device exclusion lists also allow you to stop CrashPlan running on networks that you do not want to use. e.g you can prevent CrashPlan using a 3G data connection.
You have the choice and freedom to ensure the safety of your files, whilst still remaining within any limits set by your ISP.
Information is compressed before the backup is sent, with data de-duplication even repeated information within a file, as well as across all files, is not backed up unnecessarily.
